Ace MATH 221

University of British Columbia

MATH 221 is UBC's matrix algebra course for science students. It covers the core linear algebra topics — vectors, matrices, systems of equations, determinants, eigenvalues, and diagonalization — but without the heavy proof-based approach you'd find in MATH 223.

If you're in a science program and need linear algebra but aren't looking for a super theoretical experience, this is the one. It's credit-excluded with MATH 152 (for engineers) and MATH 223 (the more rigorous version), so pick the one that fits your program. A lot of students ask "which one should I take?" — if you're in science and want something manageable, 221 is your best bet.

You've landed on a page designed to give you everything you need to pass your MATH 221 final.
